Karen Azarnia is an artist, educator, and independent curator. Born in Miami, FL, she currently lives and works in Chicago. She received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. A grant recipient from the Illinois Arts Council and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, she has presented solo and two-person exhibitions with Abryant Gallery, Chicago, IL; Terrain Exhibitions, Oak Park, IL; the Union League Club of Chicago, IL; and the Riverside Arts Center, IL; with recent group exhibitions at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago, IL; Elder Gallery, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, NE; and Heaven Gallery, Chicago, IL. Her work has been included in Hyperallergic, the Huffington Post, Newcity Art, and Chicago Woman Magazine. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
