Maria Burundarena was born in 1989 in Paris, France and grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Maria is an artist and educator who has worked as a photographer and textile and fashion designer, printing different narratives in diverse objects and environments such as garments, sculptures, installations and led screens. Maria's work is currently focused on site-specific installations using light projection, large printed images and reflective materials.
She exhibited in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Bafici Film Festival, Music Festival Nuestro Tecnópolis, Centro Metropolitano de Diseño, Espacio Cabrera – Universidad de Belgrano, and Panal 361. Her work has also been shown at ZAZ 10, Times Square, New York, SITE Gallery, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Mana Contemporary - MdW Art Fair and Dock 6 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Maria holds a BFA in Garment and Textile Design from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU UBA) and MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where she is currently a Lecturer.
